False hope
I will never tell you to do something inorganic. I will not give you a finish-line date your body never agreed to.
Before Jackson Fitness Family had a name, before the door had my name on it, I worked the food industry. Long hours on my feet. The kind of job where you can eat your feelings on the clock and nobody notices. I noticed.
I was the insecure one. The depressed one. The anxious one. The angry one. The one whose comfort was a plate, and whose self-talk was a sentence I would never let any of you say out loud about yourself. Every Monday I was going to start. Most Mondays I didn't.
I tell you all of that on the first page because the rest of this book doesn't make sense without it.
There was no lightning bolt. There was a long quiet decision I made over many weeks — sweating, second-guessing, eating better one day and worse the next. The body started moving. Slowly. Then more.
Somewhere in there I realized what was actually changing: it wasn't the weight on the scale. It was the voice in my head. The mental was the lift. The body was the side effect.
That is the day I knew I wanted to be on the other side of the chair — sitting next to someone who was where I had been.
"Before every session the first thing I ask is how your mental is doing. Because letting stuff out, then hitting your workout — you'll feel a whole lot better after."
This is not a wellness gimmick. It is the actual order of operations. Five minutes of honest check-in. Then we lift. Every time, every session, every client.
I will never tell you to do something inorganic. I will not give you a finish-line date your body never agreed to.
Everyone is different. Bodies don't read self-help books. We work — we don't predict.
If you walked in carrying something heavy, we put it down first. Then we put the weight up.
There isn't one. Even after the body looks how you want, we keep going. That's the point.
Years on my feet. Years eating my feelings. Years saying 'Monday'.
Self-coached, slowly, honestly. The mental followed.
New trainer. No borrowed client wins. Every minute of attention available to you.
Whatever chapter we write together is the one I care about most.
"I promise the reason I got into fitness isn't just for money. It's because I've been where you are. I know what it feels like to be lost in the journey. I'd be honored to help you through yours."
