✦ The Casebook ✦

Three journeys, written honestly.

↳ composite portraits — the cleanest version of the truth

JFF is a new gym. Rather than borrow other coaches' wins or fake screenshots, these three case studies are honest composites — drawn from real conversations Javan has had and the program he runs. The names belong to no one. The work belongs to whoever's ready to come do it.

Case I — The 5am Mother

Day 01
Walked in apologizing for her body. Talked about postpartum, two kids, the husband who 'loved her anyway.' Lifted nothing. Cried a little. Booked the next session.
Week 03
Goblet squat: 25 lb for sets of 8 with clean depth. Said the word 'strong' out loud for the first time without flinching.
Month 03
Trap-bar deadlift: 135 lb × 5. Sleeping through the night. Her sister hit a PR in the same session — both cried, both laughed.
Month 09
Said the mirror question — 'how could anyone want to be with me' — and then said, mid-sentence, 'that voice is so much quieter now.' Kept going.
Composite portrait · 62 yo · retired · 30-Day Onramp into 1:1

Case II — The 62-Year-Old Who Was Tired of the Stairs

Day 01
Out of breath walking from the parking lot. Asked if it was too late. Told the truth: no, it isn't.
Day 30
Climbed the stairs at his grandson's house without grabbing the rail for the first time in four years.
Month 06
Doctor's blood pressure reading dropped 18 points. Doctor asked what he was doing. He shrugged and said 'a guy named Javan.'
Year 01
Texts me a photo of himself on a hike with his wife. Cap: 'old man on the trail.' I save it.
Composite portrait · 19 yo · college sprinter · Sports-Specific Training

Case III — The Athlete Coming Back From an Injury

Day 01
Limped in. Surgeon-cleared but mentally not cleared. Half her speed was in her head. We named it out loud.
Month 02
Sprint mechanics rebuilt from the ground up. First full-speed rep at 95%. Looked at me afterwards and just nodded.
Month 05
Cleared for full team practice. Returned to her 60m time within 0.04s of her pre-injury PR.
Month 08
Set a personal best. Texted the photo of the timing screen at 11:47pm. I texted back one word: 'good.'
